Maderbraeu

The tradition-bound brewery Im Tal 10 in Munich was bought by Georg I. Schneider and his son in 1872, and became known as wheatbeerbrewery and -brewpub far beyond its local community. The Maderbräus rebuilt under Georg Schneider III in 1904 blossomed under the management of his widow Mathilde Schneider into the biggest wheatbeerbrewery of Southern Germany, then also called the famous "Weisse Brauhuas" . The mashing and brewing equipment as well as parts of the restaurant were destroyed by bombs in 1944.

Malt

is formed when grain is moistened to induce germination. Starch contained in grain is hereby transformed into sugar molecules through enzymes naturally present in grain. Once this occurs the seedlings are dried in the drying kiln and malt is born.

Margareta

Schneider (born in 1945). creative wife of Georg V. Schneider, mother of Georg VI. Schneider and his siblings Barbara and Christian. The renowned marketing and interior design expert lives the slogan: "We are not stingy with wheat! "

Mash

is formed when malt after being crushed is blended with water ("mashed").This is done in the mash tun. The natural enzymes present in the malt thereby transform starch into sugar.. In the mash tun the mash is heated to approximately 70° C [158 F]. At that temperature the natural enzymes of the wheat grain develop their biggest potential. Afterwards the mash flows into the filtering tun.
